Bev this is all done on my machine, I use what I call my triple blanket stitch, it does 5 stitches back and forth and then one stitch to the side, it gives a nice edge to the applique.

I will have to find my Fancy Flowers quilt that I made about 8 years ago, that one I hand appliqued, gave the pattern to my best friend, mmm wonder if she still has it ??? If I find it I will post a pic of it.

Honchey so glad you got a good diagnosis, plenty of rest and love and he will be on the mend in no time.

Now back to the applique, I have finished the two crowns and one more letter to do on the words. ho hum.. corned silverside is bubbling away on the stove for dinner tonight and one more day and DH is back to work, these three weeks seemed to drag on :D:D:o

JanRN what machine do you have???

Anael 09-15-2013 10:39 PM

Bev, I'm glad they found what's wrong with your DGS. Hope he will be well very soon.

Mirabelle, machine applique is boring :) But the result is beautiful!

Jeanie, enjoy your new home :)

Carrie, I forgot to mention those are beautiful cards. I used to make hand embroidered Christmas cards but I don't anymore.

Mirbab, I have a Viking Sapphire 875 that I use all the time; also have a Brother (something Runway) that I've only used a few times when Viking was in for it's check-up. Couldn't sleep last night so I got out the manual for Viking and looked at the stitches. There are a few that look like blanket stitches (which I like) and some that are just lots of small back and forth stitches that cover the edges of the applique (not too crazy about those). I'm going to try a few of them out and see if I can find the one you used. It really looks like you hand stitched it. Thank you!

I have several machines that use the buttonhole or blanket stitch. They do look like they are hand done don't they. :) That princes quilt will be beautiful when ya are done.

Honchey...so glad that you DGS is on the mend and that you had a good time at the family reunion.
Jeanie....we will all celebrate with you when your redo is complete! It will be like having a new home.
Anael....feeling better? Sure hope so.
Carrie...glad the headache didn't hang around. Sounds like you're gearing up for your retreat. These months go so fast!
OK...darling minis!
JanRN...my QB got a pattern for one of those tiny minis on the last shop hop. Have you tried Eleanor Burns method of chain piecing? It might not work well with such small pieces but I did 2 inch 9 patches with it the other day and I was surprised at how easy it was. I think Bonnie Hunter has talked about it too so you might find several people doing it on line.
QNS...sounds like you've slowed down a bit...is your knee any better?
QE...we do miss you. Have fun at the fair!
Dibib...great blocks. It's nice that you're finishing up the PC. I still have enough blocks for another lap quilt but it hasn't been calling to me. Also the BB's.
Janie...come back safe and sound and inspired by your UK trip. I've always though I would enjoy a trip to the British Isles. I have ancestors from both sides of my family that came from there.
GrannyQ....thinking of you.
Mirabelle....love the princess quilt. It will be much loved!
i took the tape off of my toe yesterday and it looks like I have a red toe ring on! It swelled a little over night so the tape goes back on. I am walking much better. I just have to sew the binding down in my Jamestown. So nice to have a finish. I'll post a picture later this week. Today I attend my last Marti&Me club meeting. After the Aiming 4 Accuracy quilt, I'm interested in expanding my experience and quilting skills. The SYE is fun and I'm resisting starting another mystery quilt and looking to finish a couple more UFOs.

Hi all,

still waiting for the testresults. Hope I will have them tomorrow. I'm not doing that well, quite a lot of pain :(
I wanted to sandwich a quilt but I can't, have to do it on the floor and I can't bend over. So I prepared a wall hanging on the dinner table ;)

GG, I'm glad your toe is getting better.

Hi everybody,

Just thought I'd pop in for a quick hello. We leave for the UK on Wednesday morning and I have so much to do, We have had a bumper crop of tomatoes and corn this year and I just can't waste it so I have been Suzie Homemaker these past few days. It feels great to have it done, but it has been busy.

I have the UK trip almost planned. We are taking a mini tour of Cornwall and Devon but the rest of the time we are on our own. One day we will do the Thames walk for 11 miles and end up in Windsor. We are also going to stay with people we met last Nov. in Egypt for a couple of days. The time is going to fly by.

Sorry to read about all the troubles several of you have been having. I hope that settles down soon. My DIL will be having more surgery in December and she wants me to be with her kids while she recovers so when we get back I will need to get a ton of hand sewing stuff ready.

I sent out my Sept MB last week and have my Oct one ready to mail when we return so I am semi organized!

I am going to try and figure out how to post pictures from the iPad and then maybe I can put the odd one here while we are away.

Wishing everyone good health and lots of quilting!

Have a safe Trip JanieW and take lots of photos...
Anael, I'm hurting for you right now...I hope they find out whats wrong so you can get better...
Jan, You do have some of those stitches on your machine...You can adjust the width and the length to get the perfect stitch for your project...I have the 850 and you have a few more stitches than mine...
Going to the post office today or tomorrow..Have several things to mail but it's raining and I don't want to get wet...I might melt:D
