Thank heavens. I have thought more about it and I think I will stick to cotton. I am going to use a white on white design for the background I think. Or possibly a mix of diffrent white on white prints. I was hoping to start tonight but instead had 2 Farmer's wife blocks to make - maybe later tonight I'll start.

for those of us new to this...what is reverse applique?

It's like that German scissor cutting thingy, don't know the real name.

The pattern is traced on the background and on another square of colored fabric. You place the colored fabric on the background, aligning the traced pattern. You then begin to cut away the top block &needle turn the fabric to match the background. It's fun,but time consuming.

If you have seen hawaiian quilts they are usually done in reverse app.

If you want to try one, let me know, I cann send you a easy pattern to begin with, you might like it.

Beautiful!! Could you send me the pattern also????

I chose my background today. It will be a plain cream cotton. Not sure what technique I'll use. I wanted to get away of machine applique because it is what I always do. I haven't done hand applique other than samples when I took a couple of classes here and there. I don't know which method will be easier to start.
What hand applique method are you using?

I too haven't decided. Machine or hand?????

I'm thinking of changing my mind. I was going to do needle turn but now I might do an iron on interfacing type thing and then hand button hole it.

I think that would go alittle faster - gotta get some background fabric maybe tomorrow.
