When you look at the "row" diagrams, you see where the 3" and 4" blocks go as well as the flying geese and I can see where there are maybe 1" or 1 1/2" sashing strips connecting each row, but then, I see some 3" or 4" rows connecting a few other rows. Did anyone read anything about what might go there if I missed it? Also

I had to look at the layout again. Maybe with the size we are making they leave rows open for us to make our own blocks to give us a good length. Maybe bitty blocks will continue on longer than a year. I did see that the smaller layout has fewer rows.

Anybody else doing the Bitty Blocks from QM? They'll post a new pattern the first of every month for 2015. The blocks will be 3 to 4 inches in size. January's block is Bow Tie. I just finished making 2 of them. They are 3 1/2 inches unfinished. Fun to do, but I think I'd like them all to be the same size. I'm thinking they'll make into a cute doll quilt for Malina for next Christmas.

The August block was to be posted yesterday but haven't seen it yet.

Here it is, Marlene. Log cabins.

I printed the August paper pieced pattern for the log cabin---It is a 4 1/4 inch square. It should be a 4 1/2 inch square and that would make it 4 inches finished. How do I increase that pattern for a 4 1/2 unfinished square? I am NOT skilled when it comes to my computer (I only know enough to be dangerous).

Redtop, mine printed a 4" square, which will work out when I add the 1/4" seam allowance around the outside of the square. Make sure your scale is set at 100% when you print.

katybob, mine printed a perfect 4-1/2" square, including the 1/4" seam allowance (as printed right on the block). Why did yours print at 4"?

Hmmm -- I don't know. I'll play around with my printer to see if the various options make a difference. Since I paper piece with freezer paper, 4" works for me, but I still want to figure out why it printed smaller than yours and Redtop's.

Here's my first log cabin. These are going to take quite a while. I think for the next one I need to find a fabric for the center square that shows up more.

Great job, and that bow-tie block has so many possibilities. Have fun. I have never tried one. I have done a couple of mystery quilts, and had a lot of fun with that, but haven't tried a bom. Maybe thats my next goto.
