So nice to see your beautiful blocks Thimblebug6000, as always your colour combo is great. Love your attic windows and your microwave bowls. My DH would also love the eagle one

Anael 11-22-2014 03:40 AM

Lovely blocks Thimblebug. Sure you can post your pictures here. I love to see what you're working on. The attic window is great! And so are your microwave bowls. Never made one myself, maybe I should if I can find cotton batting.
Love the cat fabrics :)

Anael 11-22-2014 03:41 AM

WOW Mirabelle, your Fool's Puzzle came out perfect!!

Have week 40 blocks finished this afternoon.
Guess I sufficiently scared myself when I posted about starting Bonnie's mystery next week.... gotta get Sylvia caught up!

Rhondals 11-22-2014 07:32 PM

I have an urge to make this white and red, and on a couple of the blocks, have the Elf on the shelf eyes looking out, one of the pieces of fabric. I am weird.

Ooohh that sounds interesting Rhondals, can't wait to see some blocks. Red and white always looks spectacular

Anael 11-22-2014 11:26 PM

Beautiful Thimblebug. You should scare yourself more often :D :D

Rhondals, please post some pictures! Can't wait to see your blocks :)

thimblebug6000 11-23-2014 07:07 AM

Are any of you ladies participating in this under the challenge tab? http://www.quiltingboard.com/quiltin...ml#post6979347

Thank goodness I don't have that book or I would be tempted! :D

Anael 11-23-2014 07:31 AM

NO, I'm not. I had the book but sold it again. I was too intimidated and scared so I never started.

mirabelle 11-23-2014 02:22 PM

Sorry Thimblebug6000 I won't be doing this. I purchased the book a couple of years ago and then put it aside when I realised it was all hand applique aarrgghhhhh. It takes me so looooong to do it that it would be a forever project.:D Now if I could do it my machine maybe that would make it more appealing ???????

thimblebug6000 11-23-2014 04:31 PM

I've spent the day on and off working on my blocks while watching Bonnie's quilt cam....of course a friend dropped in so didn't manage to see the whole live one... but have been enjoying some of the older ones as I stitch up more Sylvia blocks... I can't believe how far behind I have fallen.

Rhondals 11-23-2014 04:45 PM

I wouldn't do hand applique, no way. That'd take way too long, and it'd end up in a box waiting to be done.

Thimblebug,
Your blocks are all lovely and in my colors. They are delightful.

mirabelle 11-24-2014 06:47 PM

Beautiful blocks Thimblebug6000, I see a couple of Jinny Beyer prints in there, I always loved her fabrics

Anael 11-25-2014 03:01 AM

Oh Thimblebug, you really are on a roll :) :) Beautiful blocks!!!

Thimblebug6000, I love that tan/brown with the swirls. I have a scrap of it in green from my aunt's stash, and it is going into my Sylvia.

It came from some scraps from a friend, it's a long narrow piece, I think she must have used as a backing and this was the trimmings.

thimblebug6000 11-25-2014 08:43 AM

Has anyone heard from auntjo? I was so enjoying her pictures!

thimblebug6000 11-25-2014 08:49 AM

I just checked back and see that auntjo has posted in other areas, so not to worry. She has posted a gorgeous quilt Farmers wife one..... obviously a very busy quilter!

Sophie2 11-25-2014 06:33 PM

I am about a year behind, but would love to join the group. I have a few blocks finished, but I am having trouble with "y"seams. I will continue on. I have only read about 20 pages of the posts, and have written down the numbers for the different weeks and will begin. As I read more posts, I may start with your most recent weeks and work backwards. I have been admiring all the pictures of the completed blocks.

Good to hear from you MamaHen. I have sooooo many projects to do but life has a way of interfering with my plans... trying to do Sylvia, 50 fab Stars, Dear Jane, SYE, and a Tennessee Waltz quilt on the side. But my bone-on-bone right knee with Arthritis is not allowing me to use the sewing machine, and fingers cannot do hand work, so I sit and imagine what I could be doing. Like 8 blocks for Sylvia, 5 Fab Stars, 10 Dear Jane, and 3 SYE, and 50 54-40 star blocks and 49 snowball blocks for TW. And there's housework to do as we are having company coming in for a week on Monday. I have earned my pilot's license this week, piling things here and moving it there. In time it will happen. Meanwhile, I will enjoy seeing everyone block's posted here and enjoy our warm weather and sunshine. I wish you all the best of the best.

QuiltingNinaSue - I have just joined this thread so I am catching up on all the posts. Congratulations on earning your pilot's license. I am "co-pilot" when my DH flies. He has taken me to some quilt shops I would not have gotten to otherwise. Have just started doing a few SBS blocks, but have enjoyed the ones I have done. Still struggling with "y" seams. I'll get there....

jolo 11-26-2014 07:13 AM

very nice blocks everyone.!! I am going to pass on this one tho. I did 2 Dear Janes and now have to move on to other things. Am going to something with BIG blocks for a while. lol. Will look in often to check on everyone. Just dont call me the Quilt Police. Jo

thimblebug6000 11-26-2014 08:07 AM

Nice to see you Sophie2! Check on Anael's postings because some of the blocks she had a PDF for that showed easier ways to make those blocks. Rather than a Y seam she had split the square.

Thanks for the info, Thimblebug6000. I am reading thru the thread before I start again. I am on page 50 now. Reading thru the thread has given me confidence that I will be able to do it with everyone's help. By the way, love all the pictures you have posted.

Anael 11-26-2014 12:26 PM

Welcome Sophie2 :) You can do it, just ask if you're having problems with a block. Sometimes a block can be redrawn to avoid the Y seams. I can make a tutorial with pictures on Y seams if you would like that.

mirabelle 11-26-2014 01:49 PM

Welcome Sophie2, can't wait to see your blocks

Uh oh... I'm on H7 tonight.... I have it all laid out but kind of hesitant to start on the piecing....
Wow...what a lot of pieces! Did you work on yours again?

thimblebug6000 11-27-2014 09:11 AM

On Block H7 can someone please check their directions for me. My version says to cut 4 squares at 2 7/8" from the green and cut in half diagonally once to make 8 green triangles. They have turned out to be too large. I think there may be a correction to the block in the newer printing of the directions. Thanks!

DottyD 11-27-2014 09:38 AM

Hi thimblebug, my book says :-

Cut 4 squares 2 3/8th, Cut each square in half diagonally once to make 8 green E triangles. Maybe your book has a misprint - mine is dated 2009.

thimblebug6000 11-27-2014 09:44 AM

Thank you so much! Off I go to trim them down... it's not the first misprint, that's why I asked here before getting too frustrated. :D

Thanks for the link.

Here are my blocks finished to date, I know I'm ahead now but I'm starting Bonnie's mystery this weekend and wanted to put away all my brown/blue/cream scraps to bring out the other colours :D

As before I tried & could not do 43 and 44 so substituted other blocks;

Anael 11-27-2014 10:59 AM

Great job Thimblebug :) Love the appliqué !

Sophie2 11-28-2014 12:14 PM

I have gotten thru the complete thread and plan to restart my blocks soon. Love seeing all the blocks you have all posted. First I need to finish decorating the house, wrap Christmas gifts and finish quilting one quilt I started quilting the first of the week. The last SBS block I tried was A6 a star block that is paper pieced and has "Y" seams. Can anyone give me hints on the "Y" seams? I tried doing them as Kaye Wood suggested by leaving the needle in the seam, reposition the block and continue on. I've been able to do it on a larger block, but it didn't turn out good at all with the 6" block. I had trouble turning the small amount of fabric under the needle. Thanks in advance.

QuiltingNinaSue 11-28-2014 12:44 PM

DottieD, that site did not work for me to access the corrections. Is there another solution? Thank you.

Oh dear - I am sorry - I have just clicked on the link and it did work alright for me. May I suggest typing in to your google / search bar -

Updates and Corrections - CT publishing

See if that helps.
Let me know if it doesn't and I will try something else.
Kind regards.

QuiltingNinaSue 11-28-2014 04:11 PM

"click here to download a pdf of the revived illustration showing its placement" part does not work for me, saying location has changed... that is the part I cannot access. Sorry, I can get to the first page....not the illustration.

jolo 11-29-2014 06:44 AM

Yea I am cutting the Bonnie H. MQ now too. hope to see some of you there.!!!!!

Oops! I didn't get this message in time so mine came out too large. I thought there was a problem; doubt I'll do it over though with all those pieces.
