I think your quilting looks beautiful and you're going to have so much fun using individual quilting designs for each block. :)
Your Chaco liner tool is one of my favorites - and yes, blue, yellow and pink would be good additions. I like my Frixion pens, markers and highlighters. I've never had a trace of them show up after laundering - not even the "ghosting" that shows up after ironing the lines away. Years ago, I tested the Crayola washable markers and wasn't happy with how poorly they washed out. A few weeks ago, I noticed that everyone seemed to really like them, so I did another test of the Ultra Clean version (or whatever they're called.) I colored heavily on a piece of washed muslin, marked the colors with a Sharpie and ironed the lower half of the test area, really getting it hot and waited a day or two. It went into the laundry without any pre-treating or bleach and it came out sparkling clean - only the Sharpie labels remained. So I would not hesitate to use those now, either - except for quilts which aren't going to be washed right away - wall-hangings, table runners, etc. Best of luck! I am really enjoying all the pictures posted to this thread! |

Anyone still making their SBS? I took mine out of the UFO draw last week and made up a couple more blocks, with it being July and Red White and Blue is in the air. That Blazing star block was a challenge!
|
Wow those blocks are gorgeous!!
Good to see Sylvia came back to life again :D :D |
Thanks, Anael! These 6" blocks are a bit out of my comfort zone. I think this will take me forever! I have been reading Jennifer Chiaverini's Elm Creek novels so I got all inspired to keep going with it.

Those look wonderful, NZquilter! Still loving the patriotic colorway. Will be amazing when completed….so, go girl!

Dotty!! So good to see you again!
I'm heading over to Harriet's Journey now! I had no idea you started a group too! See you there :D :D |
NZquilter, lovely blocks! I gave both the quilts I finished away, and they are being enjoyed. I decided 2 smaller ones was better for me, than 1 large one.

Six more little blocks are done!

Well done NZ!!!! They're all so beautifully pointy :D :D Love them!!
|
Thank you, Anael!

Those are wonderful, NZ….love the fabrics in these…

For Kindle Unlimited members, Amazon has this book for FREE! Gotta love free…. In fact I think it might be cheaper to join Kindle Unlimited for a month than it would cost to buy a copy of the book at Amazon. I am sorry I missed out on the group project, but I’m glad the posts have been kept. It looks like an interesting project!
|
Welcome LanieLady! That means we soon can admire your first Sylvia blocks? Would be great!!
|
NZquilter, I love that colorway! After I finish Harriet's Journey, I think I may get myself a copy of Sylvia. I had no idea how much fun samplers are.

I am with you on this. I never thought I could do these little 6" square but after HJ, I know that I can. A couple of months to go then I will have to consider the SBS. See you there or here!https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/boy.gif |
Yeahhhhhhhhhh more bridals :D :D :D Welcome in our little corner.
The thread is still alive, we're still here to cheer you both on. |

NZ, jump in to see the HJ blocks on the thread here on the QB. Some are similar to the SBQ and I think that some of the HJ quilters had substituted some SBQ squares in their HJ quilt.. I won't be joining in a SBQ until after Christmas. I want to finish HJ to the place where I can send it to the long arm quilter.
|
The blocks are from the same designer so they will be similar I guess. I've seen some blocks of Harriet's Journey and I really like them. I'm not going to make another samper any time soon though!
Good luck with yours WMUTeach! |
I just finished listening to one of the Elm Creek Quilter's books and got all inspired. I searched my shelf for my copy of the Sylvia's Bridal Sampler book and yes, indeed it was there. I took a bit of a meander to refresh my memory and I am amazed at how doable the blocks seem to me now. When I purchased the book I was absolutely overwhelmed. No, I am not starting now only pondering color options. Still going to work at finishing some starts, in-progress and UFO's first.
|
I felt the same when I first saw the book. I was a complete novice, starting with Sylvia and Dear Jane. What was I thinking LOL!!!
Well, finished both. I always regretted using the original colors for Dear Jane. If I would make another one I would use other colors!! So......finish your UFO's and start Sylvia. It's a lot of fun making those blocks (well, some not so much haha!) |

Wow Dotty!!!! Those blocks are gorgeous! Is the quilt top finished or do you still have to sew them together?
What will be your next project? I'm well, thanks for asking. And you? You're ok? |

What will be your next project? I'm well, thanks for asking. And you? You're ok? Yes I still have to join all the 100 blocks and the borders etc. Will probably start that when I have some Christmas projects finished ! My next project will be Sampler Spree - a book written by Susan Ache and I have chosen Moda fabric called Cottage Bleu. I have attached a photo ! - I hope !! |
So sorry, I read about your heart problems and thought they would have been rectified by now.
No photo LOL. I'll look it up. Never heard of it. Oh found it. Those are really nice blocks and the fabric she used is gorgeous. Just what I would have done too hahaha! |
I know - Covid has caused far too many problems. I have a telephone call appointment next week - perhaps I will learn more then ! I am having a real problem to post a photo. So sorry !

Same here with the 'normal' care. All is postponed and the Government has asked again to postpone care in favor of those with Covid. Hopefully you will have your heart problems fixed soon!
I'll look the Moda Cottage Blue line up on the internet. |

Giquilts….your Sylvia is amazing! Just gorgeous….love the blue BG choice. Love it..
|
Thank you Aneal for attachment of the picture to this Feed.
Also would like to thank you for having the sew along. I had started before, but you really got me going and organized. And a reminder to finish. Thimblebug6000 no I am keeping it. Actually sleeping under it currently. (Will switch out in Spring). My son has his eye on it may give to him but I would be able to visit🤣. |
Aneal, Your quilt is amazing. AND beautiful.
|
Giquilts, that turned out very nice! Isn't it a good feeling to get a major project like that wrapped up?
I've had several quilts that I had to hang on to for a while before I was willing to pass them on. Sometimes it's too hard to say goodbye right after they are finished. |
Giquilts….outstanding finish on your Sylvia. So unique…love it…. I had to post again….I keep looking at it…lol..
