Aside from the pattern, I think the batiks help to centralize a theme in the patches. I'm glad you like them cynde, after I re-worked the autumn one I was satisfied with the results. Now to finish a couple other projects before making the runner. I imagine the prairie points will take some time. I've got a magazine (American Quilter, summer 07) that goes into making them in depth, so hopefully I'll be prepared.
The nicest part about being new at this is that I don't know that "I can't" and so I just plunge right in. It's a bit trying at times, but I'm learning a lot fast.

WOW!!!! Sooo beautiful...I saw your avatar in another post and had to zip here to see the up close pics. I think I wanna be you when I grow up!!!LOL I sure hope that I can give quilting half the talent you have!! I'm impressed with all the quilting projects I've seen here so far, but yours have a special flare that shines very brightly!!!

Thanks! I think I've more an eye for color than the actual quilting but hopefully time will take care of that. Digging in and enjoying myself surely must have counted for something.
I just wish that I'd started this sooner. I love quilting! :D

I'm running out of adjectives to decribe how nice your work is Steve. LOL I love all four blocks together. Noticed it first as your avatar and was amazed how good they all look together. You inspire me. :)

I took the pieces in to Joanne's this morning to match against border and point material, and the lady who taught classes there said all worked except the pink with the background brown/cocoa. She changed her mind when I showed her the burgundy included in the prairie points. I picked up a dark brown with small black print, a gold batik, rust, and the burgundy, which I plan to alternate and occasionally piece in a fabric used with in the blocks. You know, just a piece here and there for variety. I'm still unsure if I want to nestle the points or use a couple of sizes (small/ large/small).
