OK, I heard on TV last night....almost heard that is....that there is going to be a freeze on some food prices...anyone else see it? I walked into the room at the last minute and didn't hear what foods or when.

The detergent manufacturers always advise you use X amount. You can easily cut that amount by 1/3 to 1/2 and get you clothes just as clean as they should be. Read this somewhere about 2 years ago and have been doing it since then. When I told my husband, he jumped on the bandwagon.

I was shocked (shouldn't have been) quite a while back when I went to buy paper towels. Packaging said 50% more towels. Great, right? I opened up the roll and the paper towels were skinny minni sized! Took two to make whathad been one before.

About the TP. I called the company number on the package and complained about the width of the roll being 1/4-1/2 inch narrower. I told them as an adult, my butt hadn't gotten narrower and now it takes more paper. They said it was a decisions to try to keep from raising cost by trimming the size of the roll. They did send me several 55 cent coupons off for my future purchases.

We have a brand of ice cream here called Kemps that still has the 1/2 gallons paper carton, but the same brand also has their premium ice creams in the 1 1/2 quart containers and they cost more. They have some really good flavors in the 1/2 gallon, so that's what I buy.

It goes the same for everything. A package of bacon used to be 16 full ounces, meaning a full pound. Now it's either 12 oz or 12.5 ounces and about 50 cents more, more fat than meat as well.

This sort of happened with my dish washing detergent: 40% smaller, same price, bigger hole in top to let more product through when squeezed...

Have you also noticed the TP rolls are getting smaller and smaller? Used to be what they now call the mega roll was the standard size. Now their standard size won't last a day.
