Recently I read and my sleep doc confirmed, that the TV and computer should not be resorted to when sleepless. The bluish light from each of them fools the brain into a wake up mode as does sunlight. The thing to do is read with a yellowish light. My recommendation as a retired lawyer is to read the Internal Revenue Code. My doc recommends the Obama medical plan. Either way you will be bored into the deepest of slumbers and will have no memory of what you've read.

Only solution to this problem is don't move to your bed but stay on the couch and fall asleep again. Worth a try when you really need a good night's sleep. Ask me how I know this, it's because that's what I do some nights.

I'm not a man but I usually have no problem getting to sleep. I used to laugh 'cause my ex would get mad that I would fall asleep faster than him.

Have a sleep test done. I did not realise that I needed a CPAP machine. I was lucky if I got 2 hours sleep every night. Now the lag time before I drop off to sleep is no more than 5 - 10 minutes. I wake refreshed, have lost weight and got over some illnesses simply by resting properly.

I think men have an easier time letting go. Our brains are just naturally more active. Our left and right brains work together and possibly work to obtain solutions while we are not influcencing the thought process. I frequently wakeup and find I have the solution to a problem I have been pondering for days.

I love those AH HA awakenings. And, yes they frequently happen in the middle of the night. I also find that I sleep deeply for about three hours and than awaken ready to start my day.
