There is a place on the internet where you can either donate it or make burial gowns for babies who do not survive. Just google burial gowns for babies.
Hard to think of, but so appreciated.

When my son and wife knew they were having triplet girls, I got busy and cut up my wedding dress to make christening gowns for them. They were adorable.

my daughter could not wear mine and my son eloped so i ask my daughter what she thought and we are taking my dress (30yrs old) and hers (3yrs old) and making a christening gown for my granddaughter coming next month, and then making something for my other 2 granddaughters to keep..

My mother is a seamstess and does all kinds of sewing projects. She had a woman ask to make a christening gown out of her wedding dress, my mom did. The wedding gown was used in 5 different christening gowns and the woman's sister has had 2 gowns made out of her own wedding gown-quite a tradition to start!

Thanks for this "thread" - mine is 43 years old, brown from being in cleaners' plastic for 33 but still beautiful...I will save it for granddaughters since it made it this far. There is still hope!

I only hesitated a lil before cutting up my wedding dress to make my daughter a purse. She will loan it to her sisters on their wedding day. I made Christmas ornaments for all 3 girls and now for my 2 grandsons. there is some dress material left and I will find a sentimental way to use it also. My style is not my daughters (3) so I see no reason to save it. We enjoyed picking out what made them feel beautiful on that special day.

I love the idea of a purse for each of the ones you want to give one to. For the little pieces, make those yo-yo pins as something old and dress them up into something fashionable.

I also like the idea of making the teddy bears, or ring bearer pillows or christening gowns and especially sending it to that place where it can be made into burial gowns for pre-term babies. That's really special and a very good use of the gown. What good are they doing cluttering up an attic? That's why we take pictures! Hope I'm not offending anyone - that's not my intent. It's just how I feel, but I respect anyone's wishes to hold onto theirs. I did, however, save my cathedral veil and each of my daughters wore it as did a cousin and her daughter and 2 other young cousins want to wear it too.
I used the train of mine to make a blouse. Later I needed a white gown for degree work at lodge so I shortened the sleeves and used the dress. I don't know what happened to the rest of it. I know I don't have it, and really don't care its fate.
