I remember Zarex. It was good too, better than Kool Aid. I was friends with the daughter of the company's owner for a number of years when I was younger.

I saw some at the grocery store within the past year. Don't know why I didn't get some as I also liked it years ago.
Look above the puddings where they usually put the unusual stuff.

I always liked Devil Dogs which 50 years ago were great and nothing like the pitiful thing they called a Devil Dog in recent years.

i don't remember zarex, but all of the others are familiar. my all time favorite, even today, is cinnamon toast.

Tea cakes. My grandmother made tea cakes instead of cookies. They were big, light and fluffy, and golden brown with crispy edges. They was always a plate full under her cake dome.
I don't have her recipe (she never used one) but I have her cake dome.

to JanRN, go to www.junketdesserts.com and take a look at their products. Just the box brought back memories. You can buy Junket in several flavors and it looks like a fun website to explore. I never cared for it and it seems my mother made it a few times a week. But by mentioning it you just gave me a happy jolt of childhood.

I remember Junket, toast soldiers, Dream Whip and Merri-Mints.

I loved Fizzies, (a tablet you dropped in water to make a drink).

Space Food Sticks were another favorite.

Alas, I'm allergic to cinnamon. My DH loves it though. My favorite childhood treat was popcorn with an apple on the side. Usually it was either one or the other. I especially liked oranges. Mom would cut three oranges in half and give one half to each of the six children. That made a bag of oranges last longer.

Cinnamon toast hands down. My mother was generous with the brown sugar.

among my late mom's recipe cards is one for cinnamon toast topping, with a bit of cocoa added. Never tried it but it sounds good.

I make the mousse that calls for Dream Whip - only now I use an 8 oz container of Cool Whip! Tastes just as good. Also, in the junket section -- We had Danish Junket (Dessert) - loved it. I think they still make it. Raspberry with a dollop of Cool Whip - Sheer Ambrosia. I also liked sliced radishes and Miracle Whip sandwiches after a day at the beach!
And for those that live in the areas - WHITE CASTLES! I remember when they were 8 cents and then 12 cents and over the past 60 years, the price went up and now they are 43 cents - Gut Bombs, Sliders. My dad loved them. Said they were invented by a guy who put a little liver in the hamburger to make it healthy for children during the war when there was rationing (I remember that) . Whatever he did, we love 'em!!!!! Hot cocoa and buttered toast; pancakes buttered and milk and sugar on top. I could go on and on! But I never did particularly care for S'mores! Edie
