Just recently found out that coffee grounds are excellent fertilizer for acid loving plants like rhododendron and azaleas. Much better than down the garbage disposal or trash.

when my young niece(19)got her 1st apt. she had a candle party.Everyone was having coffee, remarking how WELL she brewed it! she blurted out that didn't have a filter, so she used bikini underwear! A hush fell over the room, 'til she explained they were NEW, not used!LOL!!--very glad I was not a coffee drinker!!!

I use the filter basket for my coffee pot, hubby didn't get it and stil used paper filters. I had to send him back to school and re-educate.

i have a krups coffee maker and bought the metal filter thing.
the water won't go through it right and leaks over the tops every time i use it. i'm giving it to my son and going back to paper. they can't be used for every machine. check with the manufacturer before you buy one - they're pricey.

I used a permanent one, now back to paper filters. But my favorite coffee is when I lightly boiled coffee in a saucepan and let the grounds settle like the old days. Then I got a new coffeemaker...back to paper filters.

Same here. I go to BJ's Warehouse and buy a huge box of paper ones. The other is just for emergency. I also find I have more sediment in the coffee with the permanent filter.
Mine did that too so went back to regular filters.
