Most of your pipes should be below the frost line. If you have any qualms, ask your neighbors. The outside faucets should have been shut off from the supply when the weather turned cold. You can get styrofoam cozies for them at home centers. The pipes exposed to the weather are what you need to be concerned about.

The pipes under the houses are what are freezing and bursting here, most of these houses do not have these pipes insulated... or the crawl spaces. Most everyone has their faucets wrapped.
In MT and NE we had ours wrapped with heated tape LOL

I have to do some Christmas shopping tomorrow. I have barely started. I have a list and know what I am after. Then on Sunday afternoon, I am spending the time in my sewing room. I have put in extra hours at work and this is my first two day weekend in 6 weeks. I am taking one day for sewing. Sewing relaxes me and I need some relaxing.

I heard that too. I'm not looking forward to it. I'll take snow and cold before I get freezing rain. Yuck.

I grew up in a trailer that spent most of the winter with frost on some of the interior walls. Frozen pipes were a way of life. As an only child, I spent many hours crawling under with my dad to fix broken pipes. (I'm very handy with a tubing cuter and PVC glue.) Even running water all night didn't save us many, many times. To this day, I HATE frozen pipes and any other plumbing problem. It is almost a phobia for me. I will not stay where the water does not work.

I think one of my favorite things about my house is the water has NEVER frozen here and if it did my husband would just tell me to go shopping until he fixed it. :)

We have been in the 20's during the day I don't want to know about nights. Most of the people in ny have heated basements and others run their pipes inside....the rest have frozen pipes. I was told to use a hair dryer for frozen pipes....no open flame and fire danger. I know it works good. We get frozen pipes only at 20 belowF.
These are the times for heated rice bags and electric blankets. Try and keep warm everyone
