comfortable shoes needed, any suggestions for a really good pair or brand?

Most comfortable shoes I have ever owned are SAS...They are a little pricey but they last a long time and I never had to break them in...Being a nurse for 37 years I wore SAS shoes for many years....

Buy Sketchers. They are awesome and all leather and can be washed in the machine too and come out looking like new. They are so comfortable.

SAS are great shoes, not cheap but the last a long time. They have loafers, sandals, lace shoes, and tennis shoes. I have a narrow foot and it is actually the only shoe I can find that fits.

WOW. I am so confused after looking at so many shoes! Thanks everyone for each and every comment. I know that y'all have helped me figure out what to look for and I am sure that a lot of other people will utilize this advice too. It's really amazing reading all of the stories, some have pain, some have happiness, some have special memories.
Now, before I just get online and nab a pair ~ I think I a trip to the shoe store might be a great first step.

Go to ShoeBuy.com and chose the brand 'Drew' and they are very comfortable and last a long time. They are not inexpensive unless get your self on their sale notify list and then you can get many styles for half off. They are WONDERFUL the moment you put them on.

I also have high arches and am prone to stress fractures in my ankles. I almost exclusively wear Easy Spirit tennis shoes now; however, equally important are the orthodic supports that I use in all of my shoes. I had custom orthodics made for about $250, but I've found that I like good ones that are sold over the counter better. My favs are Lynco brand. I buy them at a Hush Puppy outlet store, but I'm sure you could find them elsewhere. They are in the $50 - $60 price range.
