    I love the tea bag idea. It is very appropriate in today's political climate.

    That's all I got right now, If I come up with more I'll come back :-)
    You covered a multitude...Mass. is so steeped in US history, you can dress the part just about any way....
    For instance: Do you have a long skirt and peasant blouse? Add a colonial bonnet and she will look like most of the girls I saw for our 5th grade colonial day celebration where I taught in CT. You do not have to over think this as it was probably meant to add a little flare to their reports. If she likes sports, dance or drama, just have her use what she has to show her own interest.

    Salem witch trials...use a Halloween costume. Or if the teacher has a sense of humor she could go as a "Mayflower" and tie in the Pilgrims landing at Plymouth Rock. LOL I think I need more coffee!

    That sounds like a fun unique idea. :)
    You could use some lightweight interfacing lined halfway up with brown tulle, in a square that fits over her torso, shoulder seams with a hole for her head, stitch in a couple of inches at the hips to show the shape of the square. Then add a string with a tag that says Boston Tea Party on it.

    Quick directions: Cut two rectangles of interfacing long enough to cover from the nape of her neck to past her bottom and 7-8 inches wider than her body, leaving enough room for seam allowances and movement. Then cut two pieces of brown tulle (or dip the bottom half of the interfacing in tea or brown dye until it is dark enough) about half the size of the rectangles. Put the two pieces of interfacing face to face, then put the tulle on each side at the bottom. Pin all four sides. Stitch shoulder seams allowing for her to put her head through and side seams from the top of the tulle down. Sew in two inches on each side of the bottom. Trim corners and turn right side out. Attach string at the back of the garment's neckline and add square of paper as the tab. She can draw an appropriate design on the square of paper.

    I was thinking of something along the same lines, only perhaps using a king size pillow case (if it will fit) dyed in tea or brown fabric dye. I also like Linda K's idea of attaching tea bags to a hat for an added effect.

    She could dress as a witch - isn't that the state that had all the witchcraft trials?

    Boston tea party would be a good subject to talk about. Have her dress as a tea bag. {very simple}

    Something oceany would work easily I think....dress her in jeans, flannel shirt and a raincoat and hand her a fishing pole to be a fisherwoman (?).....

    FYI, you really could ask why the short notice!!!! Not fair to working parents! :)
