Do you have Covered Bridges in your state or country?

I just looked up online and we have 98 covered bridges in Indiana.

Also in the fall of every year in Parke County, Indiana they have 51 covered bridges and they have a big festival every fall.

The picture of the covered bridge below is in my area.

I wish we had festivals like that. Ours mostly have to do with food.

I really miss the Indiana state fair.

There is one Kissing Bridge here in Ontario at West Montrose .... and still in use!!

    http://www.woolwich.ca/en/tourism/th...ing_bridge.asp

    198 feet ... built in 1881

West Montrose is near St. Jacob's, the heart of the Mennonite and Amish country of Ontario. Just down the road from the bridge are the Cities of Kitchener and Waterloo. Many of you may recognize Waterloo, as it's the home of RIM, the maker of the BlackBerry.

Oh my yes. My county has 8 that I know of. We also have a Covered Bridge Society in Orgeon. I'm including the link.

I was watching the news the other day when they showed the video of the covered bridge from the 1800's that was swept away and I just wanted to cry. I had never heard of it before but the loss of the history associated with that bridge, how sad for the community.

Covered Bridges are my favorite. Parke County is the covered bridge capitol. I love the festival every year and I hope to be able to afford to go this year. The video of the covered bridge getting washed away in Maine during Irene, broke my heart, there just aren't enough of them left.
When the movie "The Bridges of Madison County" came out on video I had to rent it just to see the bridges. LOL

    just googled and learned:
"Once there were a hundred and twenty covered bridges in the state of Maine, but fire, flood, ice, progress and the great freshet of 1896 have removed all but nine"

I am surprised to find (via google) that Washington State has 40!

Oh wait.. 6 of those are now gone...

I think the closest ones to me are in Ellensburg WA.

I have lots near my house in N.H. 2 just down the road from me. Sadly one other one near my house got washed away in the flooding from Irene. I saw that Vermont lost one, too. So sad.
