Oh my, so much tragedy and destruction. What a shame. Wishing our quilty friends everywhere the best. You are in our thughts and prayers.

Thanks for the updates Mrs. B. We haven't heard many reports here beyond no deaths, widespread damage from falling brick buildings & chimneys, and only 2 serious injuries. We're keeping Kiwis in our thoughts and prayers.

and tomorrow there is forecast a stong weather front passing through NZ, High winds, rain and freezing cold. Just leke we had yesterday. If they don't get the power on soon it is going to be mighty cold.

Whoo Hoo I just spoke to Gal's husband in NZ they are all Ok but have no power only a generator and a roaring log fire to keep warm. They are exhausted and just about to have dinner and get some rest. Thank God for keeping them all safe.

Quake was 7.5. DGS's other grandmother,and extended family all live in Christchurch. Haven't been able to contact them so far. My ex rang DS this morning and said they had felt it in Invercargill - right at the bottom of the South Island.

The power is back on in NZ, you may be able to contact friends and family via email. They are still asking people not to use the mobile phone system. There has been a large number of people evacuated from their homes though, as many buildings are unsafe.
