When we bought our house it had been empty for several months so the earwigs took over!! Every window sill was full of them, dead and alive. We vacuumed really well and sprayed inside and outside and finally got rid if them. They still show up in our mailbox once in a while so I spray it with Bug Stop and they're gone for a few months. As far as the house, we have to spray around the house several times per year to keep all critters at bay. That's Southern Virginia survival !!

They were my childhood nightmare. I grew up in Calgary, they are everywhere. All the kids thought the earwigs would crawl into your ear and bite your eardrum. We were all terrified. :)

If you can, take several sheets of newspaper and wet them. Roll it up (not too tight) and leave it out where you see the earwigs. They like the cool damp places. After a few days just pick up the newspaper and throw it away with all the earwigs in it. Really isn't much help for major infestations but in a pinch it might help.

We haven't seen them for a few years, but this year we're INFESTED. It makes me sick. I've been over busy, but as soon as I have a chance I plan on trying diatomaceous earth.

I looked them up too because I have not heard of them. Not to pretty. Says lizards are a predator. I don't mind lizards. Good luck to each of you who have them.

We have them here in SW Michigan. They seem to appear out of nowhere! I hate the little buggers. They aren't as bad as Junebugs. We still have some of them around. I hate bugs of any kind!!!

We have earwigs, they like moisture. They won't hurt the cats, they don't carry diseases, they will let out a stink when touched. They can pinch, but that doesn't hurt. Clear debris away from the house, get rid of cool moist areas, that should keep them away.

The good thing about earwigs is they will eat your aphids and other bugs.
