I treasure the photos of us kids with our new Easter Outfits, after dinner our father usually took us to Prospect Park to feed the pigeons. Also have some photos taken with some of our cousins on Easter, fun to remember what it was like celebrating back in the 'olden days', May in Jersey

What a great topic. We had a new preacher the week our daughter was born who had 3 older boys, so he was alway partial to her. When she was 4 she had stuffed her drawstring purse so full it was going to break. I told her to get some of that crap out or she could not take it to church. After service, our preacher asked her what was in her pretty purse and she said, "just a bunch of crap and stuff." He loved telling it on her. Today, 50 years later we worshipped in her church and she still had a purse, much larger, stuffed full. We both had a good laugh.

We (my 2 brothers and I) got our Easter basket with candy, and usually a stuffed animal. We always hunted eggs in the morning, then had some for breakfast. Each year we had the same baskets. I asked mom one year how the Easter bunny knew where she kept the baskets. I didn't realise how little money we had, and how much she had to scrimp to do the holidays for us till I was older. But mom always made holidays wonderful. Our family was very close, I miss them (both parents).
