Thanks, Ruth. I am new to this!
Thanks, everyone, for your comments. I am so much more ready for this now than I was a year ago. Just want him to be safe and happy...wherever he is.

Awww, I feel for you and have been there too. I used to cry the whole day after they left every year!
I agree it's harder on us than them. HUGS, Sue

Both of mine went far away in different directions. It was hard for a little while and then one day I said "wait a minute - I can do what I want and there isn't someone hungry all the time!" I did miss them, especially the second one because then the house was really empty, except for hubby, but, of course we stayed in contact, even if it wasn't in person. And it turned out not as bad as I was scared it would be.

It is funny how quickly we adjust to our own schedule when the kids leave. I must say though when I sent them to the other side of the world it was difficult.

I wish you luck in coping. But like others said, you did a good job at raising him; he will be fine. Just come here when you get "down".

The best advice you'll ever get is don't ever send a package by courier......UPS...etc....DO NOT DO IT!!!!!!! You will get charged with excessive brokerage fees at the border!!!!!! NEVER NEVER NEVER!!!!! Heard stories of people gettting huge fees, way more than the item was worth! USPS or Canada Post the other way!!!!!
Ruth[/quote]

This is great news... it means you will have to drive your "care packages" yourself!!!

Well, 12 hours away, I don't know how often I'll be driving up there! I have heard that it's a beautiful area.

Update: all is well. He is settling in nicely. Skype is a great, great invention. Only issue now is how the two of us are handling this!

Do I smell a trip to Keepsake?? By the time Thanksgiving rolls around and he is back to visit you will wonder if the house was ever this noisey? Have fun with your new venture.
