Insurance won't buy you your vintage machines, especially if they are from your own family. But, at my age, I sure can't see me lugging the whole old 127 and cabinet out with me. Guess I would have to content myself with the Featherweight. I have some pictures on an external hardrive, could grab that I guess.

No - photos, personal papers and bank cards would be what i grab. The insurance will buy me a new machine. The shed behind my flat blew up and caught fire a few days ago and it was very sad for the owners who restore antique furniture which was stored in the shed. The insurance probably wouldn't cover that sort of thing.

I would make sure my cat and dog are save in the car then I would save my purse, computer and gold plated roses (from hubby). All my important papers, picture CDs and jewlry are in a fire proof safe. I am with everyone else in the fact that the insurance can by me a new sewing machine.

As much as I would love to save my machine, I have to agree with a few others. I would grab family pictures, passports and a few special things! I keep thinking baby books for my two girls! You could never replace those things! Oh and wedding pictures! Someone once asked me if you had to leave with what you could carry and one suitcase. It is hard to think what you can fit in one suitcase!!!!! Mine would have no clothes except maybe a couple pairs of clean underwear!!!!! I would want what can't be replaced. Scary to think wht you life could come down to!

my sister lost everything in a house fire. what she regretted was the pictures. she had shared with our mother so she was able to get copies of most everything. when scanners became available, we scanned all of our pictures. and all of mom's. so now everyone of us has copies of all the old family photos. now we regularlly give cd's of all our photos to each other so if anything happens, there is someone with a copy of all of them.

i would grab a sewing machine if i had time.

My Dog first and foremost. Then if I had time sewing machines My Brother QC1000 my 301 and my serger,.in that order. then if I had a little more time my computer.
My purse would go out with the dog. Other than that. Every thing else is replaceable well maybe not but just not all that important in the grand scheme of things.
