I buy my cording at JoAnn's. They sell it in the home dec section. You can buy it in a package, or by the yard. You can also use a coupon on it, if it isn't on sale. I also use honey buns for my bowls. Too lazy to cut my own strips. LOL

wow- nice bowls---that seems really expensive for your cotton cording though- i purchase 50 feet at the local hardware store for $4...your 50 yards would be 3 times that-so if i buy 3 (50 feet) packs it's $12...and no shipping. my dollar general store carries 25 feet for $1.50 too...so that's even less- but seasonal- they don't always have it- when they do i tend to stock up & buy a number of them....again- no shipping- or waiting. have you checked local sources?

It's not too bad. Yours is $.08 a foot(50 ft. for $4) and mine is $.12 a foot incl. shipping and handling
($18 divided by 50 yds=$.36 a yard which is $.12 a foot)

Hardware seems to be the cheapest for me to buy the cording.

So have you tried sewing the fabric on and not wrapping it? I pay 3.95 for 100 foot of the 3/16 at Meier or 7 for the 1/4 inch for 100

I too get the cotton clothes line from Walmart. I use it for many applications. It is stiffer than cotton cording (Wrights), but for making bowls it is fine.

I don't understand what you mean, about sewing the fabric on and not wrapping it. Sewing it on to WHAT?

sewing the fabric onto the clothesline. I saw a video at auntiestwo.com and she sews it and doesn't wrap. I am going to try it tonight. I have a bias tape maker. So make the bias tape, lay the cord in the middle and sandwich fabric over. Then stitch. Seems like it would save alot of hassle.

Thanks for the link to auntiestwo. It's nice to have another option to wrapping the cord.
