I'm being a bad girl

That's the problem with employers; sick days must be used when ill. Mental health is necessary to do our work and employers should understand.
Right now, I have 120 days sick time unused. This is the maximum my employer allows. Evidently I'm a good worker (been with the same employer for 30+ years). But if I want a day off for my mental health it has to be a vacation day!!!!

hooray for you... according to a report recently (cant remember where) the citizens of the good old USA work more hours than any of the european countries... most europeans have 5 weeks of paid vacation every year, france now has a 35 hour work week... another recent report (new york times) wrote that what used to take a 40 hour work week to maintain middle class standards (1970's) now takes a 60+ hour work week... so I say "good for you" for taking care of yourself first!

Last place I worked before retiring did away with sick days and vacation days. They added up all the vacation time an employee was entitled to, then added on the sick days, called it "personal time," divided them into hours per month and told employees they were entitled to xxx number of personal time hours per month. You could accumulate up to 125% of your total hours. Did away with the feeling of guilt if you used sick time for anything else and let you manage your time as you pleased. Don't know of anybody who wasn't happy with the new rules.
