Hope you have a wonderful time. It is so beautiful there. But, please, watch the sun exposure. A person can end up crispy in no time at all. Ask me how I know this!!! Aloha.

I really enjoyed the Plynesian Cultural Centre. Great Shows, fabulous food, interesting activities and crafts to do. Met lots of nice people there.

I would move & live in Hawaii if I could, but it cost way too much to live there. Been there many times and always hated to leave. Last time I was there I was with a group of women and we biked around the Big Island, talk about fun. Enjoy it.

I always take a Grey Line tour (or similar) when I get to a new place. They take you all over the place and point out places go, stopping at some. I use the tour to decide where I want to really explore when I come back with a car and time. This is a quick way to get a great overview of the area.

I hope you both have a wonderful time. I, too, had to take a decongestant prior to flying.

Oahu is the only vacation we've ever taken (47 yrs) and I'd jump on the plane again in a minute - wouldn't even worry about bringing clothes. Our luggage was delayed for 4 days, so I bought a few moo-moos and a pair of thong shoes when we got there. Heaven on Earth!!! You are going to have a wonderful time!!

Couldn't tell where you live in the US, but just in case if its a longer plane trip, eat bananas for a few days before the trip. One a day will do. You won't have problems with your ankles swelling by doing that (believe me, that's not fun!). I do that for longer trips, like to Australia, and it always works. How wonderful for you both!
