I gave up the cell when Altel became Verizon. They increased my bill by $110 decreased my unlimited minutes for 2 phones to sharing 450 and no free cell-to-cell and added roaming charges and they promised my contract wouldn't change til it ran out in 23 months This letter came with there 1st bill of $172 I sent them a check made out to Altel for $62 with a memo Paid in Full and a letter saying I have no contract with V-zon to shut it off- I now have Vonage thru the computer and with ATT I spend less than $46 and it"ll be even less for July and 90% of my calls are to Mo. and OK.

We keep our land line and dropped the long distance service and just use cell mostly for log distance. This works for us but for younger families it may not work. I do like my land line for friendly calls that take a bit more time you know Chit Chat.

We dropped our land line a couple of years ago. We fought over who's turn it was to answer only to find it would be a telemarketer. Now when my cell rings I know it's for me.

I live in an area that gets no reception so I can't give up my land line yet.

The only reason I got a cell was in case of emergencies when driving out of town. Then I decided to use it for all of my Long Dist. calls as I have far more minutes than I would ever use so why add those to the land phone. Other than that, it is never turned on. I've given thought to changing but haven't made that decision yet.

It was reported by our local news that if you use the cellphone less than 30 minutes aday there is no danger in getting brain cancer.
they also suggested using the ear phone plugs.

cell and in the process of canceling the land lines - the only people who call are solicitors. Plus the line is new and so we get collection calls for the previous person. Phewy on comcast the electricity went out the othr night and that line went down too, so why have it?

We are thinking about doing this.
Wondering what the pros/cons are? Please share.
I've given up my land line about 5 years ago and use strictly my cell for phone calls. I do have a "data line" into the house which is much cheaper for me to run than the phone land line for my internet service. I don't miss the land line at all, but that just me.
