I use it when I figure Payroll timesheets, so it is second nature to me to make the conversion.

I just posted on another thread and, according to that post, the time used here is Pacific time. My post was at 10:23 a.m. which is 4.5 hours behind our time here which makes it Pacific time. As I type this it is now 2:55 p.m. Newfoundland Standard Time.

This message was posted at 10:29 a.m. and it is now 2:59 p.m. where I am.

I wonder how your time zone got to be 1/2 hour off from all of the other time zones?

The Newfoundland Standard Time zone exists because of the location of the island in the North Atlantic and the fact that Newfoundland was a separate country when the time zones were established way back when. We are 3.5 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time. So we are 1 1/2 hours ahead of Eastern Standard time. Everything is a half hour later here. So, for example, CBC TV will advertize a show at 8 p.m., 8:30 in Newfoundland.

""military""time is the standard in almost all the rest of the world.
I grew up with it and naturally prefer it.

When you say "military time", do you mean the 24 hour clock? Ex.... 1 p.m. is 1300 hours.

I'm used to military time and like it. It's easy to remember and you never have to wonder if it is am or pm. As far as the time on the board not being the same as my time zone, no problem here.
