The Newfoundland Standard Time zone exists because of the location of the island in the North Atlantic and the fact that Newfoundland was a separate country when the time zones were established way back when. We are 3.5 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time. So we are 1 1/2 hours ahead of Eastern Standard time. Everything is a half hour later here. So, for example, CBC TV will advertize a show at 8 p.m., 8:30 in Newfoundland.

Where I get confused:
When/if it gets to be 24:00 hours,
when does it become 0:00 hours?
Or does it start at 0:something hours?
I know that 11:59 PM = 23:59 on 24 hour clock.
Is military time changed for each time zone or not?
Ex: When it's 22:00 EST, it would be 18:00 PST.
But Greenwich time would be 2:00 the next day.

I finally figured out that midnight starts this -yes another DUH moment -but now that I'm retired I don't seem to pay too much attention to time unless I have a Dr appt-- and that Hancocks /JoAnn close after dark so I know to go while its light outside all other stores are 24-7 very simple to figure the time

Subtract 12 if it's greater than 12 and you'll get the exact time. As a military wife, I've gotten very used to it. And, I also remember a "Home Improvement" episode with Tim Taylor's wife, Jill, explaining it that way. Her father was a military man and she was trying to help Tim figure out military time.
