Evacuated the Outer Banks today. First earthquake, now a hurricane! Gotta respect Mother Nature! Take care you all,and try to stay safe. I,too worry about my daughter in NYC, but she moved there from Florida and still has her "hurricane safety box" that we put together when she moved to Fla.

Sounds like you have all the supplies you need, but please think very carefully about staying on the island during the storm, especially if you are close to the coast.

Prayer being said for all in Irene's path. Please take care but stay calm. Being really scared is not going to help. Trust your life to the Lord and ask for his protection. I always pray for his protection and especially during tornadic weather. So far we have been spared any damage at all.

Please take care...this is going to be a really bad one...

Radio Shack has a wind up radio...you basically wind up power to run it. We have one that we use at the craft shows for the weather. This way we don't have to worry about batteries.

I just got myself an old treadle sewing machine so if the power goes out I can still sew. I just have to pick it up from the repair doctor. lol

Don't forget to pack your medications in a plactic baggie in case you have to evacuate. Stay safe to all.

Hunker down and stay safe. I went through Marilyn while on St. Croix (Virgin Islands). They called me out of the closet to watch the roof go up and down. Went back to closet.
