My MIL was at my side when both my children were born, as was my DH. It was not planned either time...but once we were in process, I NEEDED her with me...I needed the wisdom of a mother (I lost mine when I was 7) and she fit the bill just fine. She was a source of strength for me, and it also made me happy to think I gave her the gift of watching those beautiful children come into the world. I know it's not for everyone, but I've never ever had a second's regret having her with me.

Oh, Terri.....I am so happy for you and your family! I was blessed with being able to coach my daughter with all three of the births of my grandbabies......it is such an awesome experience and makes them so special!

Enjoy your time with them!

Congratulations Terri!

When I was born fathers were not allowed into the room to watch the birth.
My DD never saw any of his 5 born. So, when I gave birth to my second I had both my mom and my dad (and DH of course) in there to see. He cried.

whoa Terri, what a happy-happy thread!
How exciting, I feel like doing the cha-cha now! Guess I am thawed out for my day, lol!

Cha, cha, cha, cha, cha, cha!
Terri's gonna be a grandma!
She's gonna be so doting,
Grins and lots of gloating!
Due on January 8th,
She can hardly wait.
Pretty they will be,
Boys or girls, we'll have to see!
Cha, cha, cha, cha, cha, cha!
Terri's gonna be a grandma!

Kind of catchy, don't ya think?
Can't wait to see all the slurpy things you make and buy...hubby's gonna go broke! congratulations to all of you! :D

I was the same way Terri with my daughter. Noone was going to keep me from my daughter's side unless she didn't want me there. But she clung to me. Her DH was there but he had no clue how to comfort her!! She is my best friend and being there for her was just natural for us. I tried to step back and let Ben be her coach but he wasn't comfortable with it so I got to be there for her. He was in the room and got to cut the cord. He had me take pictures of Zach's birth but Sara wouldnt' ever let me see them!!! LOL She didn't remember giving me permission to take them! They were too personal to her. I do understand that to some extent.
