Try soaking it with a solution of water and dishwasher detergent (the kind that goes in the dishwasher, that is.) After a while, that should help.

No suggestion for cleaning it, but have you used the crock pot liners. They are wonderful.

Put water and some Arm & Hammer baking soda in the pot, then put your slow cooker on cook for a few hours. LOVE that baking soda. Gets all sorts of baked on stuff off. I don't keep dryer sheets in the house because of the scent, but that sounds like an interesting fix. Good luck!

My daughters made a cake in my cast iron skillet and cooked it in the fire when we were camping. I almost wrung necks before we got it clean. The next time they lined the pan with foil.

My dad used to collect antique bottles & used denture tablets to clean the insides. I've used them too with good results!
done that also! they are also good for cleaning the toilet bowl.

seems to me, i have heard of using ammonia, putting the pan,or in your case the crock, in a plastic garbage bag, and setting it outside for a day or so.

if you have scratched the crock, i would be concerned about the burnt smell getting on other food.

Try using a Mr. Clean eraser. It always works for me.

I acccidently discovered that scrubbing with crumpled aluminum foil gets off a lot of gunk.....

Try straight lemon juice. The dryer sheet method sounds like it might work as well. My boss puts fabric softner on baking pans with cooked on grease/food, let is soak and off it comes.
