I agree with the method with baking soda described by Nursie 76 for the inside.

We always rubbed soap all over the outside of a pan that was to go on the campfire in Girl Scouts- washed right clean

put some baking soda in the pan and water. boil hard. should peel right off.

Know this is an old post, but:
Try an coat of foaming or gel oven cleaner. Follow directions, if it cleans ovens without harm it should work on a pan.

nothing but salt, water and stainless steel scrubie as their is no chemicals to get in your food. Salt was used before cleaners were even thought of.

I burned one and soaked with CLR and it came out nicely. good luck.
