The carolina's are fabulous. Moved down here with my hubby and kids from N.Y. many years ago. Only problem here is that there are too many beautiful days and feel guilty for wanting to stay in and quilt. So when it rains ...... Enjoy the transition!

well said - moved to SC (from WNY) about 15 yrs ago! The days are just too nice to stay inside! There is a lot of outside things to do, too; even when its hot out. (It never gets cold enough to stay inside either, lol)
Hope you love NC! I've been there on vacations - if you ever get a long w/e off take a trip to Biltmore, you will enjoy it.sharet

Welcome to NC! Lots of NY transfers here, including me-from Hudson Valley. Actually, the climate West of Winston Salem is very similar- not the Rochester snow though. Lots of good LQS here too! You will love it. The symposium is the first week in June- was in Raleigh this year. I believe next year is in Fayetteville.

You will love NC (except the summer heat) We have mild winters and you will be close to a lot of entertainment,
the mountains are near and the beach is a good day trip.
Many nice beaches to chose from in NC and SC.
You will have good places for fabric, Joanns, Hancocks and of course Wal Mart.
Plenty of Churches to chose from and don't miss the fair every year.
I have lived near WS most all my life except when traveling with my husband in service. I go there to shop a lot.
Good luck!
