... it's that awful odor that comes out the first time you turn the furnace on for the season.

We are still running the AC. Maybe one day the heater will get used.....just not today. :)

You could heat with wood and get that down home scent :-D

Why does it do that? I was asleep when DH started the heater. I thought he was burning down the house. It did set off the smoke detectors!

I've always figured that the odor was that of the dust in the ductwork burning off.

I don't think it would be a good idea to heat with wood in our shop. I'm just not that sure that our customers would like appreciate smoked fabric. (Smoked bacon, maybe... but not fabric!)

My daughter had to turn her furnace on last Fri because her kids were cold. She also said it smelled bad. Mine will too but I refuse to turn it on till Nov. 1. I just keep wrapping up in quits till then.

We have had a couple of days that I could turn off a/c and open windows untill around 3pm then a/c back on central FL
