Good for you ,I had my last cig. on the last hour of 2005, never looked back, surprised me that I could do that, but I just said these are killing me and I'm not ready to die. God bless you and help you stay free of smoking.

I quit smoking 6 weeks ago after struggling for years to quit. I tried everything. Finally my doctor gave me a prescription for Chantix. It works! I do have some side effects but nothing terrible: vivid dreams, constipation and gas. I don't know how this works exactly but it made quitting possible without suffering much. I thought I'd never be able to quit. :o

I quit 12 yrs ago and have never looked back. Took at least 5-6 attempts. Now when I see someone smoking I say a short prayer they, too, may be able to give up the habit. It's a tough one for sure. Good luck and remember...breathe

Congratulations, I quit 25 years ago on my own, I do remember how hard it was and the terrible cravings, but I got my sense of smell back and that was an immediate bonus!

Congratulations..I quit 8 years ago using Chantex and would never want to go through the quitting stages again. Keep at it and you will be smoke free forever!

I am so happy for you, I have never smoked except for second hand from my DD and DH.My DD only stopped after I was married and gone. My DH put his down when he went to war in 1969 and never smoked again. Just this year my SIL lost his step dad who was a good friend of ours to lung cancer he was a heavy smoker most of his life and had stage four before he knew he had it. He was here last Thanksgiving and was not feeling well and had lost weight, everyone was on to him to go to the Dr. He went the next week and found what he had. He was here Christmas and gave us all a big hug good by and was gone in four more weeks. Now when I see someone smoking it makes me so sad. I am so happy you found something to help you get free of them. Take a deep breath of sweet fresh air and be happy.

They say that some people take 9 or 10 tries before they can quit. I don't think I took quite that many, but once I learned not to be so hard on myself for downfalls, I quit pretty easily. Its a great feeling when you are really ready and finally are successful
