Heres a good suggestion to keep the lines of communication open. Invite her out to breakfast with you, a mother daughter thing, you will be surprised how food opens up the communcation, spending time together one on one.

My DD is 15 and in grade 9, tall blonde and beautiful!! She is pretty picky and so far hasn't taken to the older boys, thankfully!! All the boys her age are idiots. She rarely goes out, which is good and bad.

Look up the silver ring thing. Find a church in your area doing it and get her involved. My daughter is 21 and still wears her ring that she got at 16.
A strong relationship with her father will do so much more for her ability to know her value and be able to tell boys no then almost anything you can do as mom. keep the lines of communication open. You will get through this. |
Buy her a Rottweiler.

I remember when I was a teenager, and my Mom would always let me use her as an excuse. For example, if I wasn't comfortable with something, I could always say "My Mom doesn't allow me to do that" and she would back me up. If I was on the phone with someone and wanted to get off, I'd give her a certain look, and she would "Yell" at me to get off the phone. So I'd hang up, and say "Thanks Mom! :-)" I think just letting her know that you are there for her is huge. I see too many parents these days that are trying to be their kids friends. Don't do it! Friends will come in and out of her life, but YOU are the only parent(s) she will ever have. Sorry for the soap-box rant! lol Good luck! |
