I did that in the middle of the night once. The needle was embedded in the bone of my finger - the Elna will sew through anything, LOL. I had to reach around to the thumbscrew and take the needle out of the machine to wake my husband up with pliers in one hand and the embedded needle in the other. My concern - how much blood did I get on the wildly expensive silk organza that was on the machine that night. White, of course.

Soak your hand in warm soapy water (antibacterial soap) twice a day for 15 minutes. Takes care of a variety of ills.

Ouch is a good word to say at a time like that but I said something a little different. Hope your finger heals quickly.

My GM died 20 yrs ago at the age of 93. She told us that as a young mother of many children she needed to get away one day. Leaving the older children in charge, she walked to the next farm where she found the older farmer's wife sitting at the treadle with the needle thru her finger. She just looked up at Grandma and said what should I do? Grandama just laughed and stepped on the treadle so the needle would come out. She had been sitting there for hours waiting for her husband to come home. Never forget that story.

Haven't done that for a very long time. Sure hope it doesn't happen any time soon.

Ouch!!! Makes me cringe just reading this. Guess I'll wait a bit to get to my sewing! LOL

My husband said "So you had to stop sewing?" ( Obviously he's new here!) " No. I just changed the needle and kept going!" Just thought I'd share.

Did the same thing. Just pulled it out, put on some antibiotic and kept going!
