I remember my first record was a collection of children's songs including "Bippity Boppity Boo" and others. The first I bought myself was a 45 of Penny Lane by the greatest group ever - The Beatles! IMHO

It was some early Beatles song. Probably I want to hold your hand and love, love me do. I was in 5th grade, in my bedroom doing my homework on a Sunday night, and my father came in and told me to come look at the TV. It was the Beatles first American appearance on the Ed Sullivan show. I fell in love with Paul then and there.

It was a color record with pictures on it and both sides were southern blues type songs. I should check it out online...maybe it's worth something except I don't have the sleeve. Our basement flooded right after we moved in here and we had so much stuff in boxes in the basement that we had not brought upstairs yet to put in the rooms. It was about 4-5 inches of water so it soaked through the boxes and ruined some stuff. Of course the records were in the boxes sitting directly on the floor. |
