I remember my first record was a collection of children's songs including "Bippity Boppity Boo" and others. The first I bought myself was a 45 of Penny Lane by the greatest group ever - The Beatles! IMHO

I think Clear Lake, Iowa has a dance every year on the anniversary of his death.

It was some early Beatles song. Probably I want to hold your hand and love, love me do. I was in 5th grade, in my bedroom doing my homework on a Sunday night, and my father came in and told me to come look at the TV. It was the Beatles first American appearance on the Ed Sullivan show. I fell in love with Paul then and there.

I remember watching that. I knew 3 girls that got to go to Chicago to see them in concert.

Still have them......

I still have my parent's 78 RPM records. When I was little I used to play them constantly. My favorite was "Tennessee Waltz" by Patti Page. And one day when I was carrying it around I broke it and cried for hours. I had not started kindergarten at the time so I must have been 3 or 4 years old. lol

Another record they had was really cool. It was a color record with pictures on it and both sides were southern blues type songs. I should check it out online...maybe it's worth something except I don't have the sleeve. Our basement flooded right after we moved in here and we had so much stuff in boxes in the basement that we had not brought upstairs yet to put in the rooms. It was about 4-5 inches of water so it soaked through the boxes and ruined some stuff. Of course the records were in the boxes sitting directly on the floor.

The Four Tops version is the one I remember - I loved all Tamla Motown - But it was written and evidently a hit by a group called The Left Bank but I don't remember that version.

I have The Left Bank 45rpm. I love The Four Tops version too. I graduated high school in 1967 and soul music was and still is my favorite music...especially The Temptations.
