If you paint them, they will look bad in time.

We replaced hinges on 7 doors in Nov to very nice brushed nickel....3 hinges per door and I believe it cost us $5 per door. It is a really inexpensive way to improve the look of doors....especially ones the previous owners sloppily painted. Ugh!

I don't think painting hinges it's the best way to improve the looking of your door. Any paint won't last long because hinges are made from metal and it's always moving how paint is supposed to stay for a long time. Maybe if you some good paint that are made especially for this kind of work, but I think it's expensive enough. It was easier for me just to replace old hinges with new ones. It was easy because I bought them from the same store where I bought all wenge internal doors in my house, they even made me a little discount and proposed to help with installation, but I refused because it was interesting for me to do
