To Quilt, or To Fish - That is the Question

I love to fish....catfishing late at night....line in the water and pole propped up on a stick....drink in one hand....something munchy in the other....kicked back and loving it. But not near as much as quilting....the skeeters don't bite at my sewing machine....lol.

MIL was originally from Michigan and now in SW Colorado. She loves her bait fishing. Uses a John Boat in summer, but never uses a motor, electric or otherwise, and she likes oars and rowing on small lakes. She hauls her little boat out to her favorite lake in the pickup and launches it all by herself to fish all day long, then loads it back up and drives home.
In the winter, when her favorite lake is frozen, she spends a good part of the day out on it with her snow shovel, hand operated ice auger, stool, and thermos full of coffee.

OMG Fishing is my other passion. I LOVE IT. My husband bless his heart will run the trollin motor around the lake just so I can fish. He's such a wonderful man. I'm just glad I don't live next to the lake cause that would have me in a fizzle everyday wondering what to do. LOL. :)

I don't fish but sometimes took the kids out to the Texas City dike to let them catch a few blue crabs. They would get excited about catching something and then be less enthusiastic about picking the crab meat, so it was not something we did more than a few times over the years, but I'm sure they remember it as a good time. I do.
For those who have never tried it, you tie a piece of raw chicken to a string and drop it in the water. If there are any crabs around they grab the chicken and hang on while you pull them up. They want that chicken more than they care about staying under water.

I go fishing once in a while with my grandchildren. We also go ice fishing in winter on the lake up here. There is an ice fishing derby in the winter with prizes in several categories. That is fun too.
Quilting is still my favorite though.
