If you know it's out of the area, just don't answer and then block any calls from that number.

I get one of those about every other month.Last Friday, there was a woman calling (usually its a man)I told her I didn't have access to my PC,at this time. she says"that's ok, go ahead and turn it on and I'll fix that for you.But I need some information first." I hung up.

I like that one!!

The one time I got this call, I strung them along, pretending to do what they asked for a few minutes, then I said "There is a pop-up flashing WARNING in the middle of the screen!!"

"What does it say?"

"It says WARNING - the person on the phone with you is a scammer!!"

Still didn't faze them, kept trying to tell me they weren't a scammer.

We get these calls all the time. My husband lets them know that he knows it's a scam and they hang up on him!! Of course they never delete our number so we get them about once a month.

We live in Florida where scams abound. If there's no name associated with the caller ID, and we don't recognize the number, we don't answer. They can leave a message. If they don't care to leave a message, I don't care to talk to them. No one ever said we have to answer our phones.

Yes, they were doing the same thing a couple years ago. Stay away from them, they are not from Microsoft but a scam. Later I got a call claiming they were investigating these people, another scam. I told them to come to my house and lets talk, I had a couple stay close by in case I needed the police called quickly. The investigator never showed up and I never heard from them again.

I get them several times a month and have finally found the perfect solution for all telemarketers, a whistle. I just give the whistle a long blow and none of them have called back nearly as frequently as before. The do-not-call list is a joke. I think it gives more people our phone numbers and certainly doesn't block any calls. I had 5 of them in one day. Just hanging up didn't seem to help, they would just call back but the whistle has done the trick thus far.

Oh yes those calls keep coming, even when I am on the 'no call' lost. most recently the Publishers Clearing House called to tell me I had won one million dollars. He asked if I had a checking account as I needed to have to send money. Didn't wait to hear how much.
But on the other hand calls can be true. This week my grandson, a college student, had calls from Bermuda which he refused to answer. They finally left a message that he had won $5000 dollars. It was true, it was a contest and he had forgotten about since his professor had to sign it and then had mailed it for him. He is one happy student.

I always ask them if their mother knows they do this dishonest thing for a living, and then say"Shame on you!". They don't call back.
