I had one some years back and didn't have any problems with the cats not using it. In fact, they were fascinated with it at first. When it would start to do its thing, they would run into the room to watch it. You have to use the scoopable litter in them and I would use what is recommended. When I first started using it, I used what was recommended, but then wanted to save a few pennies and went with the cheap brands, which gummed up everything. Lesson learned.

My foster cat won't use anything that makes a noise.. So it depends on the cat -a kitten would be more used to the noise than an adult (Or maybe it would scare it either adult or kitten).

We talked about it and decided to stay with the old stand by, me cleaning the box.......lol

My husband keeps the dog business picked up outside so the cat box is my duty.

If we bought one we would have to move it so it could be plugged in. It is in the laundry room now. And we would have to run a extension cord up and over the door to get to a plug. Something we don't want to do. Moving it to the garage is a no go. We put the dogs in there when it is storming outside or during the winter when it is to cold for them to be outside.
She may or may not like the noise.
She may never use it and I would have to return it for a refund. (the store is 25 miles away)

I had one yrs ago and it worked at first then the bin got kind of warped and alot of the litter would end up on the floor. They even make a tent type dome to go over it if you want. It never scared the cats, they are out of it before the box does its thing.

We watch "My Cat from Hell" and Jackson Galaxy recommends one more litter box than cat, so if you have two cats, 3 litter boxes. He also says experiment with covered, not covered, and different litters til you find what they like.

I've used several different ones including Cat Attract which is guaranteed to work. It didn't for me. Right now I'm using Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal. They were feral kittens we adopted when they were about 4 months old. I don't know if that has anything to do with the problem or not. I'm just about to the point of taking them to a rescue group but I really hate to do that since one of them is just now taming up enough to be able to pet her. I would NOT take them to a kill shelter though.

Several years ago we lost both of our cats from something they ingested out doors. Then we had to put down our Tara, a crazy, but loveable German Shepherd. I missed them terribly, then one day my DH said we should by a Litter Maid box - YIPPEE - I was off to the animal shelter and fell in love with "Casper" an almost all white kitten with grey ears and tail. He was my lap cat, but went into kidney failure at 6 years. The Litter Maid was put away, out of sight as it was too hard to look at it; then my best friend and I went to an animal shelter on a whim. There was Miss Terry an all black cat about a year old - well, from the moment I first held her I knew she was mine as she cuddled under my neck, I could turn her 6 ways from Sunday and she didn't want to leave my arms. The vet was coming into the shelter in 2 days, so the shelter had her fixed as part of the original fee, and a couple days later I brought her home, although my DH was less than enthusiastic about her. We have a daughter named Kari, my best friend is Terry, also the cat's name, however, DH could get confused as to who I was talking about, so, she became "TJ", a combo of my friend's first and last names. We are still fortunate to have her after 8 years, and although she can be pesky as she thinks she's a dog and has to lead me everywhere, sleeps at the foot of my bed and is my shadow, she is my love. I have a tendency to make a short story long, however, my point is that our Litter Maid is still functioning well after 12-15 years of use, plus the $129 you mentioned is a good price, as we paid $99 those many years ago. Good luck, I think you'll like it, and I think Miss Kola will too.

I have one. Not sure of the brand. Cats didn't adapt to it but that may have been due to the fact that I should have started them on it when they were babies. It is now stored in the attic.

My 2 adult male cats, one is 9 and one is 14, love the Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal litter. We had always used Fresh Step, but it creates so much dust that I decided to try something else. I put the Arm & Hammer in one litter box and Fresh Step in the other in case they didn't like the new litter. They seem to prefer the Arm & Hammer. They have almost stopped using the Fresh Step completely. I think it is because the Arm & Hammer is much finer and doesn't hurt their paws as much. I also have been using a Litter Genie disposal system for about 6 months. It is great. You just scoop the used litter into the genie and then pull a 'lever' on the front and it drops into a plastic bag. Odor is sealed away. It is easy to change the bags.

Have seven cats....bought two litter maids...cats hated them...returned litter maids and bought three $20 domed litter boxes...use Scoop Away litter exclusively...clean morning and night...happy kitties!
