Wow that is harsh, condensinding and judgemental. Guess what you are using a form of social media right now and would not be pleased if someone told you to get a life. The original poster was talking about a trend she dosen't care for some people agreed others like me mentiond things that bug us more....none of us were looking for self righteous judgement infering that this social media is superior to another one.

Worse!!!! I unfriended an acquaintance who would post pictures of herself with a Bentley in the background with the caption, "Just chilling at home." Selfies at 5 star restaurants, magnificent trips, beautiful interiors of her home, etc. I thought she should just take a picture of money and say, "Look what I have!" Yeow.

Oh, and if you ever take a selfie don't hold the camera low. There is a reason!

I am on Facebook daily checking in with family and friends mostly. There is a former coworker daily doing selfies. Very vane from the first day I met her. Used to be pro body builder and "supposedly" trying to get back into it. Any photos of full body selfie is shot from quite distance. Saw her the other day and she looked like it was all she could do to breathe. I guess that is why they made spanx. Most selfies are shot from an above angle. She has taught her children how to pose. She learned that from earlier body building days. Am I jealous? No. Hardly. I've worked hard for my body fat.

I don't do selfies. IF I post a picture of myself it is because someone
else took it of me not taking it myself. For the most part I don't have
a photo of me on my profile.

Usually my profile is one of my cats, or something I made. Or a funny
sewing/quilting related saying.

I stopped the feeds from my middle daughter because all she did was
post selfies and complain about her course load (college classes) but
failing to understand that SHE is the one who selected that course load
nobody else.

I like facebook for many reasons, I have been able to hook up long lost
friends who I hadn't talked to since childhood, found cousins that I knew
about but never met (on dads side), and am in MANY groups for sewing,
quilting, and machine embroidery.

I have a Facebook friend who's always posting "selfies". She went to the same school I did, but she's several years older than me, and I don't really remember her all that well. In her "selfies", she looks much, much younger than the 55-ish years old she actually is. I just thought "good for her", and didn't really think anything else about it. But one day something occurred to me. Her "selfies" were always taken at an odd, unnatural angle. Hmmm.

A couple of months ago, her husband posted a photo of her that he'd taken while she was asleep. Oh my. She had very dark circles under her eyes, all sorts of wrinkles, and looked her actual age ... if not older! She didn't even look like the same person. (I bet she was furious that he'd posted that picture!)

That's when I realized what she'd been doing in her "selfies". She was pointing her face in such a way that the lighting and/or camera flash erased those dark circles, and the majority of her wrinkles were "stretched out" so that they didn't show nearly as much. I wouldn't doubt that Photoshop was involved, too. I had to giggle just a little bit. Her husband tattled on her, either accidentally or on purpose! (I suspect the latter!) It's perfectly natural for people to want to look good in their photos, but hers were just a little TOO perfect, if you know what I mean! LOL!

Not long afterwards, she posted a photo of herself riding a roller coaster, claiming it was the one in a local amusement park. Something about the photo caught my eye. She was wearing a modern shoulder harness ... one of those big padded types that pulls down over your head ... and the roller coaster in her photo was a metal one. The roller coaster she CLAIMED to be riding is a vintage wooden one that has only a metal lap bar. Then I noticed that her head was too large for her body, the skin tones didn't match, and there were other signs of poor editing that made it a dead giveaway. Yep, she'd obviously Photoshopped that picture! She'd taken a photo of a modern roller coaster (one she'd probably found online somewhere), and had Photoshopped her head into it. ROFL!

She still posts "selfies" all the time, but I don't take them too seriously anymore.

My comment Facebook is Wastebook, Get a Life was not meant with any malice, it is just a saying here in Australia, sometimes our sayings are lost in translation. I sincerely apologise if I offended anyone, but people who continually take photo's of themselves and tell you what they had for breakfast and what they do almost every minute of the day.

It is almost as bad as when you walk around or on public transport and see that almost everyone is hooked up to some gadget with earphones,(don't people have normal conversations anymore) I have an earphone attachement to my mobile phone (cell phone) I feel like I should use this but not attach it to anything so as I do not feel left out.

Many people have had serious accidents here when crossing roads etc as they are so obsessed with these gadgets they are not watching the traffic, one schoolgirl last year walked under a tram and was killed while texting.

So sorry if I upset anyone, now you can get back to your Facebook.

I, too, have plenty of gripes about FB behavior; but have learned almost all the ways to cut out the stuff I don't have any interest in. I do have one son that I blocked because he is such an "activist" (his words to me) about political stuff. I've told him, I know who I am going to vote for, that's enough for me--you're outta here. So now, when I want to know what's going on with him, I find him, and read what I want to and don't read what I don't want to.

And, I can't see any comparison to QB with FB. I guess that is because I just read what I want to on this forum, and skip past the others. I LOVE QB.

I have a niece that I had to stop her notifications. She travels a lot in her job and lets everyone know - I'm at LAX, I'm at so-n-so restaurant , etc. I read FB to get news of out of town relatives.
