I watched a couple of times. I think the guy is creepy, and I think the women have a self esteem problem. Its almost as though they dont feel worthy enough to have a husband that is devoted only to them.I cant imagine being married to a guy who had to have other women too.Its their business, but personally it makes my stomach wobble!!!

Come mid-summer, when the garden is going nuts, and I'm trying to preserve everything --- yep, I'd welcome a couple of "sisters".

They aren't Mormons. Mormons DO NOT practice polygamy. We believe in following the laws of the country. These people (Sister Wives) call themselves Fundalmentalist Mormons, meaning they have left the Church and are living their own lifestyle.

I agree -- my ex-SIL is Mormon and we've talked about this. Their bishop many years ago had a vision/whatever it was called from God and decided polygamy is not right. The TRUE Mormon's do not practice it. I understand there are off-shoots from that religion that still believe in it.

As far as I know, he is not claiming the "wives" as dependants so what laws are they actually breaking?

Like I said, I would never share, but how is this different from a guy having a mistress who doesn't live with him vs. a "wife" who does and the real wife doesn't mind? Educate me.
These people are Mormons and some Mormons practice polygamy. It is not legal, has not been for many years, but it is their contention that it is part of Mormon religion. We believe in one man/one woman relationship (marriage) and they have the man-made law of polygamy.

It isn't a religion that I would or could believe in but they do. Edie
These people are not Mormons. Their religion is a take off from the Mormon religion. True Mormons do not practice polygamy. It was a practice earlier in the history of the mormon church but not any more. This family was living in Utah and when the show first aired they were investigated by the law. I don't know what became of it or if they still live here or if they have had to move. True, they are not abiding by the law but the religion they are practicing does believe in polygamy and they are married in their religion. I know a expolygamist family that have all left that way of life. They say polygamist life is not that wonderful.
