My mother still wears her apron all day, as long as she is home. She also wears dresses and high heel shoes along with her apron. Me? I am a grandma to 22 now and I own one apron which I never wear. Reading through this post makes me want to make a few and start wearing them. I especially like the idea of having things in my apron pockets for those little grandbabies when they come over.

My daughter who is only 18 IMMEDIATELY wanted one, my two daughter in laws wanted one and well I guess maybe a new generation that finds its not too uncool. Momma and Grandma knew what a good thing they were. Some, like me, are slower to get it.
It's it funny how what's old is cool again? I made 12 for gifts this Christmas & my daughters loved them & the granddaughters had to have matching one with their mamas. LOL, a simple bibtype apron makes a great bib for a messy 2 year old while eating too!

Thanks for the blast from the past! My grandmother always made and wore the bib aprons. I remember being enveloped in one when I was old enough to help snap bean and de shell peas for canning. My mum made us matching aprons when I was just beginning to walk. I will try to find and post it. My mother always made up to 50 aprons for the November church bazaar. I remember getting the scraps to sew on. I usually wear an apron when preparing big family meals like Christmas. I made my oldest DD a chef style apron with Debbie Mum coffee shop material for Christmas and she was sooo excited to get it! My youngest DD loves lemons and she has several aprons made with lemon material.

Yes I would love to see pictures. I was looking at apron pattern books today and wished I hadn't boughten so much fabric already or I would have boughten 1. Gives me an excuse to back to town next week. I have some apron patterns but not the aprons of "yesterday". I will make a yellow 1 like my grandma use to wear or with yellow in it. They had a very large apple farm out of Yakima so its going be yellow with apples on the pockets. I have the visual I just need to find that perfect pattern. :-D
