Useless Kitchen Items
#71
I have seen them in thrift stores...always wondered what it was for. Another mystery solved!!

I have to chime in here at the risk of making myself look like an idiot. The most worthless item I ever purchased was a set of "Eggies". They are little egg-shaped containers that you put egg beaters in, and then boil them, to make faux hard-boiled eggs. I was thinking less calories and cholesterol at the time, that's my only defense. The things never worked - they either fell apart in the boiling water, or the egg beaters oozed out the sides. At least I only wasted ten bucks on them.

My bread machine started making horrible squeaking noises, so I got rid of it. DH just got a popcorn maker thst makes the same noises right out of thr box. Ugh! The most useless thing in the kitchen now is the set of springform pans. Or those teeny muffin pans. Or the blender. Or......

I did a partial kitchen purge last Summer when I gave my ex dishes, pots and pans, plus duplicate seasonings and sauces.
I love to cook.
The all time most useless gadget in my kitchen is a Jamie Oliver thingy that is supposed to be a Mortar and Pestle, USELESS.
I have two favourite things in my kitchen, my Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer and my chef's knife. When I had the knife professionally sharpened last month the sharpener wanted to buy it. Apparently the company now only makes military and hunting knives. He had never seen a chef's knife and had only one steak knife. I told him it was not for sale or trade.

I had one of these too. Would still have it, but I gave it to my son when he and my dil got their new house. Also, an old ice cream scoop. My jar opener had a red handle

Most Useless:
Food Dehydrator
Waffle Iron (the plates aren't removable, making it a pain in the patootie to clean)
Sandwich Maker (same reason as above)
Stick Blender (used once!)
Vacuum Sealer
Good China (My mom bought the set for me, but it's not dishwasher safe, making it very impractical. Never used it.)
Coffee Cups (DH rarely drinks coffee; I don't drink it at all)
Blender
Most Useful:
KitchenAid Mixer
Vidalia Chop Wizard (love it for chopping onions)
Juicer (even though it's a pain to clean the filter screen thingy)
Microwave Popcorn Bowl
Jar Opener
Wisks
Small Coffee Pot (I use it to make tea! )
Cast Iron Skillet
Parchment Paper (love it for baking cookies, biscuits, fish sticks, french fries, etc.)
Dishwasher!!!!! (I *loathe* hand-washing dishes! I would rather clean the toilet! LOL!)

About how long does it take for a loaf to thaw and rise again before you bake it? I'd like to try your method.
