Miserable in Houston - hot, humid and allergies are terrible.

It has been so hot here that the local food bank I volunteer at changed their hours and now close by 3p, last appointment is 2:30p. The warehouse stays about 85º and that is with the fan blowing. The sorting room hasn't had many volunteers show up to sort, due to the heat, too. I can't remember a more miserable summer in my lifetime and I found out the reason why. The last time weather was this bad was 1954, I was born in '55.

Yesterday evening I got in my truck to run an errand and it said 106! That's just too hot for 7 o'clock in the evening.
Now I know why my AC was struggling. By 10 it had cooled off to mid 80s which was nice. Only 97 right now but supposed to hit 103 with a heat index of 110 both today and tomorrow.

here in michigan we have had a record breaking july for heat.the humidity is so nasty, my JRT got out the front door..and took off,was back in 10 minutes..too hot for him too!
our schools don't have air conditioning..i feel bad for the teachers and kids when they start back.

i know it is worse all over the country..

when my son was in bagdad, it was 114 in the day and 80 at night, he was freezing too! so i sent him a quilt!

And we are under heat warnings until Friday at least! Pretty bad when we are all hoping for a hurricane (but just a small one with no wind damage, please! LOL)
