What food did you hate as a child?

Hmmm, trying to think, yup, canned peas like a lot of others. Tuna sandwiches was another one, which I do like now. Looks like a lot of us were from the era when liver and onions were frequently served. I didn't mind that, but can't eat it today.

I will eat almost anything, including liver and onions, anchovies, and almost all vegetables. I agree, canned vegetables can really turn people off. Canned spinach is inedible IMO. And what is with canned carrots? How hard is it to cook a fresh carrot?
I have eaten a raw oyster but I must say it is nothing I would run uphill after.
I do have to add tripe to my list, it tastes the way a cow's behind smells.

I couldn't bring myself to eat stuffing....the sage spice makes me gag! LOL! I can remember having to put it in my mouth and spit it into a milk box container when I was in grade school. We had nuns that checked our plates before we could leave the table. You had to eat everything before you could leave. I remember my Mom sending a note to ask them to let me go and NOT eat stuffing, but it didn't work. So I learned early that the only way I could leave was to put it in my empty milk carton. Traumatic when you're 7 years old. LOL!

I hated lettuce and tomatoes. I still don't eat fresh tomatoes, but I don't mind them cooked into casseroles.
Now the lettuce is a different story. In high school I was on a local TV show with several other girls, and the station took us to lunch afterwards. We were all served a small steak with mashed potatoes and a SALAD! When I looked around, everone else was eating her salad, so I forced myself to eat mine, not wanted to look different. Later, when I got home and realized that I wasn't going to DIE from eating lettuce, I realized that it hadn't been so bad after all. Gradually I started trying a little lettuce here and there, and today I love it!

Beets, liver, raisins, anchovies - still won't touch any of them. Hated that white goop in oreos - still do. Didn't like turnips and any kind of greens but I love them now, including canned spinach but not creamed spinach! I dislike most fruit...especially bananas & oranges - can't stand the smell of either one; lemonade - yuk! But I like lemon chess pie. Will not eat fresh tomatoes and can't abide lettuce, but I like tomato based sauces. Use to hate asparagus now I love it grilled w/rosemary! Don't care much for chicken...especially boiled - I can't stay in the house while it's cooking. Sushi is disgusting...I refuse to even enter the restaurant. Beef needs to be well done or I'm not touching it! Dang...I'm picky and proud of it!!!

Oh, liver does seem to be a love it or hate it food. My favorite is fried chicken livers. I remember my parents disagreeing about how to cook them. That, and the "great green bean debate." Dad was a southern boy and wanted his green beans with bacon and cooked until they were mushy. Mom wanted them just barely soft.
