We have to put our 3(Bs) on leash when they go out to the back yard. It's different. Anyway when we get ready to hook them up, the youngest and smallest (Brutus) has to make a pass through the house prior to. We live in a small 3 bedroom (all on one side of the house) with hall down the middle. Anyway he always has to make that pass before he goes out. If it's raining, he will not go out the back (he puts the skids on) so DH takes him on leash to the side. when Mike gets home from work (he packs his own lunch) they go nuts because they just know he has a "goodie" from his leftovers. They don't quiet down til he says "That's it" and closes his bucket. Anytime I go to the cabinet near the sink they think they're going to get a treat. When Bianca wants to go outside, she makes a sound like she's saying "Rattle rattle rattle" If I say you want to go outside she heads for the door. Bridget pretty much just follows suit. Not of our dogs sleep in our bed or bedroom. They have their kennels. That is also how we potty trained. Best way to do it.

My Gus runs to the bathroom whenever I am in there.
Her brush is beside the commode and she knows she
will get brushed.

We accomplish 2 things at once.

Bed time is also her major scratch time and if
I do not start scratching as soon as the light
goes out, she will gently pat my arm with her paw.

Brie our avatar- LOVES to howl and we both get her going. She will howl for a good 5-10 minutes then she comes over gives us a lick on the hand; curls up and goes to sleep making sure she can touch us both if we are both in bed at the same time(DH works nights). I guess she knows her pack has settled down and its nappy time !LOL

We used to live in Wichita which is home to many aircraft companies, an air force base and has 2 airports. There were many low flying planes and our pug, Pepper, used to chase them across the yard. Must have worked, we never had one land on us.

Funny that you should ask this right now! One of our furbabies, Gracie (Cairn Terrier) really has a thing for yarn. I've spent the better part of the afternoon repairing her handiwork. Anytime she finds something lying around, she grabs it and skids to a stop in front of one of us, then waits for us to throw it. "Get it, Gracie" are her favorite words. Funny, funny babies!

My little Chihuahua, Daisy, is my alarm clock. I never get to sleep beyond 7:00 AM! She crawls out from under the covers and starts to march up and down the length of my body and if I try to ignore her and sleep she starts barking and growling until I finally have to give in, get up, let her off the bed onto the seat on my walker and take her to the doggie door and let her out. She's very vocal and definitely lets me know when she wants attention!!!

I have to laugh at this thread as our pets are really stress relievers.. My brother has a golden doodle (75lbs), and my Socrates (18lbs) has her wrapped around his paw.. Madison lives for her balls, and toys. When I throw the ball for them to retrieve, she waits until Socks gets it, and since the balls are too big for him to keep in his mouth, she waits patiently for him to drop it, and then runs, and gets it.. She walks around the house with the ball in her mouth The problem comes up when there is something else she wants too.. It's not unusual to see her upset trying to get two thing in her mouth. She's the same dog that puts the ball in her food bowl, and eats around it.. She's also the same one that doesn't know that she is a big dog.. She thinks she is a lap dog. On the other hand, Socks doesn't want to be a lap dog, and will do anything to let people think he is big..

My sidekick Nike sits up on her haunches and bats the air wanting picked up, or petted or races me to the recliner to sit on my lap as I read QB. She is my cat/dog, she growls if the door bells rings, watches out the window for me to drive up the drive then meets me at the door when I walk in. We have conversations, yes she answers me, I have a feeling she knows more of what I am saying than I do her.
My mare and I have such a connection we need no words we just do.

I've known for a long time that my dog Missy will jump on our bed when we are gone so now I shut the door. The other day I left in the truck while we were in a campground and Missy jumped up on the bed forgetting my DH was still there. My cat Shadow loves my sewing chair and sleeps there constantly. When I come in to sew and shoo him off, he will bat at me constantly to get me off the chair.
