I have better things to do than watch these types of shows...the only "reality show" I have watched has been Extreme Makeover:Home Edition...any others I don't make time to watch.

I don't watch tv and don't have cable/sattelite - got rid of it years ago and I don't miss it a bit.

Everything I need to know, I can find on the internet, at my convenience. I read the news, when I want, not at 6pm, like the rest of the world...that's pretty much all I use to watch - well, that and the weather, but I can see that on the computer too.

And my entire quilting world is available to me on-line, all the time.

First, I'd like to say what a lovely Butterfly thebossbab has. It positively GLOWS.

As for TV, I have one, cancelled the cable some years ago and do intend to sign up again sometime if I ever hear of something interesting going on that I can't find on the Internet. Even can find old TV programs and can watch them with no commercials. I'll have to hunt them up again some day, they were nice ones, even The Adams Family, which was better than what I hear is on now.
I have masses of old shows we taped and lots of CDs..I watch one or two per year so shared them with friends who were burned out but someone gave them an old Video player.

I DO miss the Carol Burnett show..it was nicely insane and laughable in a nice way.

Lol! Totally agree. They are a waste of space on tv. They could be using those time slots for better shows.

There is no point, most families have enough going on without sitting down in the evening and watching reality shows that are staged for a camera.

Don't forget "The Bachelor", "Bachelorette", and "Survivor". I agree with the others, these shows are just plain stupid.

OK, I get the reality shows like Ax Men, etc, people working, or Little People, etc, people with an unusual life situation.

But as far as I can see, NOTHING happens on these other ones. Any time I have tuned in (and it is not for long) people are just sitting around talking (at best) and hollering (at worst).

Are we supposed to be fascinated because they are "famous"?
I must be getting old, I don't even know why these people are famous or who they are.

I have a theory. And that's all it is, just a theory. Back in the 'olden days' when we were lucky to have a black and white little tv screen encased in a huge wood cabinet, most mothers were at home, doing ironing, cooking, etc. And these women liked to watch soap operas during the day while they were doing chores around the house. Fast forward to the present: a LOT of women work outside the home, so don't ever watch soap operas. So the tv stations put on reality shows at night to fill the void of snooping into other people's lives. Just a theory.

TV is getting worse and worse. My daughter (18) watches Jersey Shore. I can't even sit in the room when that show is on. Its just horrendous. Right now the only TV show I like is Glee... and I love that one!

Don't recall when "television" first entered out lives and homes, but it has
definitely not fulfilled our expectations. I think even the "news" programs
now are geared only to silly sensationalism ... not worthy of our time.
My favorites are Nova, Turner Classic Movies, PBS specials, and of course,
football.
