Sorry if the following sounds harsh, but...People who do this to animals are not worth the powder to blow them up, same goes for those who abuse animals. I have an adorable plump 15 yr. old cat. and love her so much.

I have no respect for people who treat animals as disposable pets. They are loving and living beings who depend on us. My babies are spoiled and loved. I don't let them go outside for fear of what might happen. I have a beautiful gray cat that has been dumped here. He gets fed daily. If I could get close enough to him I would take him in to be fixed. I'm working on it.

It makes me furious also. Last year, just before we were to leave for NZ, our dog treed a cat. I brought him in and hope she would go home. Well it turned out she had taken up residence in our shed. She did the same meow, hiss, meow, hiss, and looked half starved. I did not want another cat, but DH said, you can't let her starve (I would have caved soon anyway) so I would take food out and when I went in she would eat, eventually she let me touch her briefly...well long story short, it turned out she was pregnant and had 4 kittens. I actually lost sleep worrying about what to do with them when we left for NZ as it was getting cold at night here in PA. A sweet lady at church that has a farm and a little girl who loves cats, took the kittens, we had the mamma vetted and boarded her until we came home. We had her spayed and she is now a very spoiled house cat, a calico and named Patches. We also had 4 dogs at one time 2 dumped and 2 shelter animals. All my animals are spayed and or neutered, and very loved. Can't understand how people can dump animals like that, I understand there are pets that wander off, but we live in a rural area, and animals are dumped frequently.

Bless all of you who have helped abandoned animals in any way.

Personally speaking, I think people that dump animals should be shot, no questions asked.

I started feeding the neighbor's kittens when they would attack me as I was taking the trash out, at first just table scraps, well one day the two of them was waiting outside for their food and all I had left was some egg noodles, wide ones. The yellow kitten was scarfing them down so fast, that he started choking, he wouldn't let me near him to help, and i think he went off and died choking on the egg noodles, I felt so terrible, never saw him again. Well after that ordeal, I took the other kitten in, no more scraps, regular kitten food, milk, the whole nine yards. I still have her to this day, which has been 6 years now, plus a daughter of hers. They are both fixed, and very well taken care of. They are just as much family as our children are. I still have a hard time fixing egg noodles to this day. Poor yellow fellow.

Some people have no business getting pets. We've had strays dropped off many times in our area because we're out in the country. Instead of people taking them to the animal shelters they go for a drive & dump them off in the country. It doesn't make sense.

Our latest foster is an old old dog- the vet thinks about 14 years old. He has no fur on his back, and hemangiosarcomas (cancer spots) that have to be taken off. He was clearly a loved pet at one time. He's a total sweetheart. And he was found dumped way out in the country in MO.

Doing rescue, it would just shock you the things people do to animals. I think that perhaps his people died or went to a nursing home and someone just thought he would wander into a better place????

He lost 16 teeth last week at his dental, because his mouth was a total mess, and will have the cancers taken off next week. And he has already found a home with the young couple that sometimes fosters for us. His name is Ichabod and the last years of his life will be safe and happy.

Last year, I got a mother and dad and a litter of three pups less than 5 weeks old- dumped about a mile from the shelter, because it was closed. WTF?

I keep saying that I'm going to take a break from rescue, but unfortunately, there is no shortage of animals to save.

I used to work at a pet store and pets would get dumped there :( My two cats were rescues that a woman brought in after the mother got hit by a car. Another girl got a black lab pup that got abandoned. Another time, a woman brought in two half starved, very young kittens, covered in fleas - she said that some one opened a car door and dumped them out on the curb and she brought them to us. Another time a box with 5 kittens was left in the middle of an aisle. Some eople are assholes and shouldn't have a pet.
