Wild Animals Loose in Ohio
#41
This is very scary. I don't understand why they are killing some? Were some of the animals sick? Why not tranquilize, move to a secure area and find a zoo that would care for them? I have not heard the entire story of what happened and was just wondering.

our former gov. strickland signed a exectutive order in jan banning the private ownership of exotic animals (jack hanna had worked with him on this) when asked by the reporters when he took office gov. kasich said "he would look into it) but he did not. he let it expire in may. kasich has been too busy busting unions to worry about the protection of wild animals or the public.

I caught this on the news last pm in between passing pills out to the residents at the nursing home. It is a tragedy, one for the animals and two, for the laws that allowed it. Sounds like he was a hoarder of the worse degree. I have found out laws will not be changed unless there is a loud cry going up about it OR one of the law makers lived close by. Unless he also had exotics.

I know one family that feels it is their "right" because they "know" how to care for them(because they've read up on it)Seriously?? that is STUPID. PERIOD!

I should have said "individual private property".
I don't care for zoos either but they don't make me feel unsafe as I would if my neighbor had wild animals.

I havent heard the whole news yet, like the man who had them killed(?) himself, let tghem out(?). We have a lot of stray animals we take care of, I really hate to think these poor animals had to be shot, BUT, I also thought, gee, the neighbors dogs, my cats outside would just be a snack for a hungry scared lion or tiger. Not to mention a kid out on a bike, or just walking, and - really, would the glass in my french doors really hold back a tiger intent on getting thru them to eat me?! Bad situation all around. sharet
